When you think of humanity you automatically want to think positive and productive thoughts. Literally, you may imagine a sea of beautiful people with wonderful personalities. I recall growing up and listening to a song written by Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie called “We Are The World.” This song was beautiful on many levels because it featured multiple artists working together from all genres of music for a specific purpose. The message of unity sparked a public awareness that until this day resonates with everyone when this song is heard.

We live in a world today where I feel it is necessary for us to get back to the basics. It’s time for the common courtesies and decencies of life to be freely extended to everyone. We must turn the tide so that we don’t completely lose our way. I truly feel that the world is full of good people with great intentions, but distractions like greed, selfishness and envy clouds the judgment of a few. At the core of mankind, we all want the same thing, the three P’s of life which are peace, provision & protection for our loved ones.

Are you familiar with the “Golden Rule” of doing unto others as you would have them to do unto you? It doesn’t matter what your religious affiliation may be when it comes to this simple yet profound principle, philosophy or law. I think we can all relate that everyone wants to be treated fairly and equally. Imagine this, what would the world actually look like, if we all innately adhered to this one thought process? Would there need to be a code of conduct, traffic laws or regulations to tell us how to behave?

Theodore Roosevelt said, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” This is why I founded the Live To Produce C.A.R.E. initiative. Like the word that it spells out, it literally shows others that you do care about mankind and where we are headed as a people. The acronym stands for “Civility, Awareness, Relationships & Empowerment.” This philosophy of care has no limitation, in that it is essential at every stage of life; from infancy to death and everything in between. Care is necessary for any industry and on every level of life and business.

Why CIVILITY? Because everyone deserves to be treated in a civilized manner. We are all created equal, but do we reciprocate the compassion, courtesy, and politeness that we desire? If we simply revert back to the “Golden Rule” concept we would find being more civil towards one another is far easier than acting irrational. This can be found true when we observe children that have not been trained or tainted with the biases. In the office space or marketplace incivility, is what is draining performance and productivity, therefore, placing a strain on society as a whole.

Why AWARENESS? Because lack of understanding and knowledge of the facts is the root definition of ignorance. When our eyes opened and we are paying attention to what is happening around us, we are more inclined to get involved. Before you can utilize your knowledge, expertise, and experience towards a specific cause, you must first be aware that it exists. In your life and business there are several things that pull at your heartstrings, but what would you actually be able to do about them if you had no knowledge of them?

Why RELATIONSHIPS? Because the world revolves around relationships. Honestly, relationships are the new currency! Having a strong, deep or close association with another person or group is the simple definition of relationships, but take a moment to analyze your life and see the many types of relationships that you have gathered. Whether we are talking business, financial, healthy, interpersonal or stable relationships at the end of the day we all have them. How we cultivate them may be a little different, but everyone must deal with relationships in life.

Why Empowerment? Because at its core motivation is temporary, but empowerment puts you in the driver’s seat to get things done. I believe that clarity breeds confidence and when someone is empowered, you are literally turning the lights on for them to see what already exists in them. This process enables them to become more confident and stronger in their belief in themselves.  Once empowered there is no limitation to what can be accomplished.

Why C.A.R.E. because I believe in humanity! I see the world through a different lens, where we all can get along and share the gifts and talent that we were given to make this world a better place. Will you join me in using your voice to promote this initiative? When asked why care, I will always answer why not?

I leave you with this verse from that famous song “We Are The World!”

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a chance we’re taking
We’re taking our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a brighter day
Just you and me

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead
